Here is the homework (book, slides, and videos):

The class is free, the exam is free, the book costs $30 (from us), and once you pass the test the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) asses a $35.00 fee for new license applications. The exam folks will give you payment instructions once you pass the test.

We have some books, if we run out you can order one here https://www.amazon.com/dp/1625951558 or you can chug on down to R&L Electronics in Hamilton, OH and get one or order from R&L here https://www2.randl.com/

For practice tests, I totally recommend “HamRadioExam – Tech” on Android or iPhone (also runs on some smart TVs), check the app store for your device – best of all it’s FREE!

For supplemental tech class videos go to https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLuapIzKwhZN_30dcgsDbGU3J7C8BAYJcG Dave Casler KE0OG has taken his time and produced some excellent supplemental materials on YouTube. Dave is great and his videos are very informative. He is also a regular feature in QST Magazine.

What can I do with a “Just a Tech License” you ask? Well Anthony Luscere K8ZT made an excellent presentation entitled Technicians, “Life Beyond Repeaters”! See it here https://www.google.com/url?q=https://youtu.be/-m8tOFBYl4E&sa=D&source=editors&ust=1676318292572294&usg=AOvVaw22-z4zi7XQ1jnXtK24vYDi Note: your instructor is an Extra Class and he loves VHF and up.

Tony also has a lot of really good educational material on https://www.k8zt.com/home

You must register for the FCC Registration Number (FRN) and bring it to the test! Here is a guide from the FCC https://www.fcc.gov/wireless/support/knowledge-base/universal-licensing-system-uls-resources/getting-fcc-registration Please note that FRN’s expire if unused for 30 days. So get yours closer to your test date. If you are an elected or public official, please see your instructor prior to requesting your FRN.

Please, consider joining the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) see http://www.arrl.org/ for details.

See you in class! 73 de N8NMG – John
