Amateur License Examinations
Testing
- The Dayton Amateur Radio Association provides FREE license exams to prospective applicants on a bi-monthly basis.
- Exams are held at the DARA clubhouse on the third Wednesday of odd months (except May) at 7pm. The DARA clubhouse is located at 6619 Bellefontaine Rd. Huber Heights, OH 45424.
- Exams are walk-in friendly, no pre-registration required. Applicants will need an FCC Registration Number (FRN). If you do not have an FRN, one can be obtained by visiting-
- Upon successful completion of your exam the FCC will email instructions for paying the $35 Application Fee. This fee is payable directly to the FCC and is applicable to all new licenses, license renewals, and vanity applications. License upgrades are not subject to the application fee.

Those wishing to test should bring:
– Government issued I.D.
– FCC Registration Number (FRN)
– Any expired licenses, CSCEs, or other paperwork for upgrade purposes
– a pen
– a pencil (with eraser)
– a basic calculator (cell phones are not allowed)
